Human Aspects¶
Learning Goals¶
Goals for this week's lab
- Get a basic introduction to selected human aspects and human-centered perspectives relevant to cybersecurity and data communication, and understand why they are important
- Get a basic understanding of the difference between "constraining", "considering" and "enabling" approaches towards humans in cybersecurity
- Get some hands-on experience with personas as a method to consider human aspects
- Be able to reflect and discuss around the importance of considering user experience and Quality of Experience in relation to next generation of networked applications and services.
- Be able to give examples of factors that might influence users' experiences with digital technology
Preparation¶
There won't be a RAT next week, but there is a preparatory task and some preparatory reading.
1) We would like you to skim through the following report: Report "Nordmenn og digital sikkerhetskultur". No need to read it in depth, but rather browse through it to get some impression about the different aspects that are evaluated, and the key results.
2) Try to get the main lines from the following paper (we will discuss it more during the lecture): Human-Centered Cybersecurity Revisited: From Enemies to Partners.
3) Interview two other people (e.g., one room mate or friend not from the study program and someone from your family), using the worksheet that is available here. If possible, try to get two people from different age groups / gender. Briefly fill it in also for yourself and bring your notes so you can document the preparatory work.
